What is Keloid

kelis means tumor.

Keloid is an elevated, irregular darkened area of excess scar tissue caused by collagen formation during healing.

Keloid extends beyond the original injury and is tender and frequently painful.

Keloid occurs in the dermis and underlying subcutaneous tissue, usually after trauma, surgery, a burn or severe acne.

Keloid more common in people of african descent.
