Function of proximal convoluted tubule

1) Glucose and amino acids are completely reabsorb by symporters and facilitated diffusion from proximal convoluted tubule.

2) Water is reabsorb about 60-65% into blood by osmosis by proximal convoluted tubule.

3) Sodium ions are reabsorb about 60-65% into blood by sodium pump and symporters and antiporters in proximal convoluted tubule.

4) Potassium ions are reabsorb 65% into blood by simple diffusion in proximal convoluted tubule.

5) Urea is about 50% reabsorb into blood and variable secreted into urine in proximal convoluted tubule.

6) Bicarbonate ions are reabsorb about 80-90% into blood by simple diffusion.

7) hydrogen ions and ammonium ions are variable secreted from proximal convoluted tubule by anti-porters.
