What Is Efficacy Of Drug

Efficacy is a measure of the drug’s effectiveness under controlled conditions as opposed to real-world conditions.

Agonists produce the maximum drug response. The drug response produced by partial agonists is less than maximal. The efficacy of antagonists is measured by the extent to which they interfere with the effect of an agonist.

Efficacy can be measured for each effect produced by a drug. It is not necessary for all drug-receptor sites to be occupied before the maximum drug effect is achieved.
